On Saturday, April 18, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., State Senator Janet Bewley and State Representative Beth Meyers will hold a listening session at the Phillips Public Library, 286 Cherry Street in Phillips, on Gov. Walker's proposed 2015-17 state budget.
Some of the cuts the proposed state budget includes are: Cutting $300 million from UW schools and forced layoffs across the state; Reducing state support for K-12 education and forcing local public schools to reduce per pupil spending by an average of $150 in the 2015-16 school year; shifting K-12 education funding from local public schools to pay for the statewide expansion of Walker's taxpayer-subsidized private school voucher program;
